School/education

I finished my secondary school in 1997 in my city called Moba and the name of that college was Alfajiri.  We found it in the Province of Katanga especially in South East of our country,

Profession/job

From 2001 to 2006 I worked as a primary school teacher in a refugee Camp with World Vision.

Festivals and celebrations

In my country we celebrated new year 1st of January, Christmas on 25th and Easter as in Europe. There are also other celebrations like: refugee day, environment, HIV/AIDS, teacher’s day, Red Cross, Independence day, mother’s day, wedding…….

Friends

I missed many friends when I finished my secondary school because it was time to be separated and others because of war.

Family

My parents and my younger sisters  brother and other members of my family are still in my country in spite of insecurity, violence…... and others are in the refugee camp.   Last time I saw my parents, my youngest brother and sister was in 1998.  As we were seven children in my family I lived with my four younger sisters in the refugee camp but when I came here in the UK they rejoined our parents because there was no one who could look after them.

Home country and famous things in your city/town

Democratic Republic of Congo is my home country and I like it so much because people are living in friendship, they talked to  each others every time, they share every thing, the weather is very nice, many people are farmers and breeders. They are lots of Zoo and every one can do his own business.

Social life/hobbies

Any time people are living together, helping each other in any difficult, changing ideas, reading books with friends, playing to the lake side with my younger sisters and friends, dancing music and cultural dances with our neighbours, parents and friends and sometimes in the evening my mum or my grandmother told some stories about life and some riddles.

Food

I usually ate our African food called shima with vegetables, meat, fish, chicken, beans…..  They are also rice, potatoes, sweet potatoes, cassava, yam, carrot and they are lots of kind of vegetables and fruits than here.

Favourite things

Traditional dances, songs and stories, some food, fruits, vegetables, relationship with neighbours and others in the city.

What do you miss most

Parents, uncles, aunties, cousins, grandparents, my younger sisters and brother, my neighbours, friends, the good weather and some foods.
